Build the Universe piece by piece

INSTITUT DE FÍSICA D’ALTES ENERGIES | IFAE

Interactive Stand Stand: S4

Do you like the Universe? Do you like Lego? Do not miss this activity! Come and discover the Big Bang, the stars, the atoms and the particles by using Lego.

Theoretical physics works with models and makes predictions. We have created a Lego model of the fundamental particles by which student will be able to reproduce the Big Bang and discover where the stars came from. In addition they wil be able to invent new particles and imagine their properties! Participants will ask questions and solve them by working with the pieces, just as the researchers play with the mathematical formulas. Lego allows us to think with our hands and solve challenges that on paper are much harder to imagine.

In this stand we have prepared three theoretical physics challenges that can be solved using Lego pieces. We will work together to solve them and learn a lot of things about the subatomic world.
